Meet Alex Paniagua

Alternatives is proud to announce our newest staff member, Alex Paniagua, Director of Operations and Finance! We interviewed Alex to learn more about him and his heart for this work.

  1. Tell us about your family.

I’ve been married to my wife, Julie, for the past 20 years and have two daughters Keyla (14) and Emma (10). We were missionaries based out of Costa Rica for 20 years and recently moved to Colorado. We have been living in the Englewood area for the past 2.5 years.

  1. Can you share a little bit about your global work/ministry experience?

I’ve been involved in global missions for the past 25 years. I felt called to missions since a very young age, with a strong desire to get out of my comfort zone and take HIS truth to the nations. I’ve mobilized and encouraged churches, mission organizations and individuals to work in collaboration to accelerate mission efforts in areas of our world where Jesus is still not known. I have been involved in leadership and management roles during the past 20 years working to catalyze opportunities and encourage people to respond to the mission of God among the least reached. Additionally, I encouraged churches and organizations in Latin America, Africa, and Asia, who traditionally received missionaries, to send missionaries out as well.

  1. How did you come to work as staff at Alternatives?

It was during a time in my life when I needed to transition jobs that I heard about an open opportunity with Alternatives and applied. I have no doubt God was moving me into this new position with Alternatives for a new season in life.  I felt peace during the interview process and believe this is the right job and role where I can use my skills and experience. I feel encouraged to be a part of a solid team and healthy organizational culture with a clear vision and mission to bring hope and transformation.

  1. What do you enjoy the most about your job?

Alternatives is a place on mission with a purpose, a place where I can contribute my gifts and talents for the greater good of the organization in operations so that other staff members can do their work on the frontlines. I consider it a privilege to work with our Executive Director and the heads of departments to provide vision and encouragement to the organization.

  1. Why are you passionate about the life issue?

I am passionate because at the center of my belief in Jesus is life and life in abundance. The cultural narratives of today disguise phrases such as “my body my choice” as life-giving, which only end in physical death for the unborn and potentially emotional and spiritual death for the mother and father. I am passionate about challenging the enemy’s strategies to steal, kill and destroy in so many directions. Therefore, I am grateful to be a part of a team that is stepping into some of the darkest spaces of our culture, bringing light and hope.

Welcome Alex! We are thrilled to have you on Team Alternatives!
